enrolled into a master's program and passed/completed all required major and elective courses for the degree, but did not get it, because I was disqualified and kicked out for not maintaining a 3.0 GPA by my last quarter. I had a 2.85. My grades were all B's, except 3 C's that I got. I am truly bummed, and my administrators in the program are not going to let me reenroll to fix my GPA. They are firm in their stance. I've done several variations on resume.

Vote!!

You could get in serious trouble for saying any of these, because they all imply that you finished the degree. You cannot say that there is any kind of a degree, since you didn't get one, and you certainly cannot say that your degree is either pending or expected, both of which are patently false. If they find out (and they will) that you did not complete the degree, you will be fired and your career will be ruined. The only thing you can say, if you put anything down about it at all, is:

ABC University, 2007-8. Enrolled in master's program in XXX.

None of them are satisfactory; everyone of them would be a lie. You're overstating your qualifications. It also depends what your masters degree is in. If it is in philosophy (like my boyfriends is) you will have essentially flunked out. If it is in something more 'practical' you may be able to get away with listing the relevant skills attained through your coursework.

You can't say your degree is pending or expected, because quite frankly, you won't get it. The fact of the matter is you probably were not liked in the department. In my experience, profs will bend over backwards to ensure that their students pass their classes, offering to let them take extra time to finish papers, etc. It is unlikely that your degree will count for much of anything as it will never be completed. Making the best of this situation means accentuating the skills and strengths you gained through your experience, without making mention of a failed degree.

Best of luck.

Leave it out of your resume completely. Yes, you just wasted thousands of dollars and countless hours have gone down the drain, but from what you've stated, you did not earn a degree and are not being allowed to remedy the issue that prevents you from earning it. Therefore, you have not completed the coursework, nor is your degree pending. And if you're just going to flat out lie, then why stop at one masters -- put down you got two, or even three. Heck, put down you got several doctorates.

I vote Master Degree, all coursework completed, degree pending or Master Degree, all coursework completed, December 2006.

Let them think what they will, and if you question, let them know you are 0.15% of a grade point average from your degree and are disputing the decision and awaiting a ruling to get your paper degree.

When they ask to see your credentials and you don't have a piece of paper showing that you have completed a master's degree then you will not be offered the job. Should have just tried harder. You legally do not have a master's degree.

Wolfgirl is right. All of your options are essentially lies. Perhaps you will get away with it for a short while, but one day you will be caught.

Plenty of people get employed without a masters.

You are "Jack of All Trade Master in None". Exclude it in your RESUME.
