This is am upgrade from the NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS.

You won't notice a difference with HD video, but it will make a difference with gaming. The 8600 is a nice step above the 8400 and 8500.

If the 8400 you have came with your computer, keep it incase you ever need warranty service.

Yeah, with the 8400, those games will hardly work.

With the 8600, they'll work okay.

But for a some more money you can get an 8800, its much more powerful.

YUP, that is a significant upgrade. But do consider also the factory overclocked 8600GT that runs at 600mhz core clock and 1600mhz core clock like the ones here.

Yes, in fact, it is a good idea to upgrade to a new graphics card for those games because the older ones don't support it.
