Smokers refused medical treatment because they smoke.

For the record I'm a none smoker and think this is wrong.
We are all the same regardless if we smoke or do not if we are black or if we are white.

Wrong

A doctor is bound by an oath to provide medical care regardless of this issue

If we are now in a new era of medical ethics excluding smokers from the treatment a non-smoker is offered then it's time to revolt.

We in the UK all pay for the NHS via contributions and the additional tax that smokers pay the exchequer exceeds the cost of medical treatment cost by BILLIONS of pounds each year.

If my doctor dared to refuse me treatment he will find himself in the presence of a mental patient pretty suddenly.

Write to your MP with specifics and lodge a complaint

I smoke and will probably not stop until it kills me - then the government will pocket more cash through my reduced pension payments.

I will never undergo chemo-therapy because i have seen it kill more people than it has saved.

By the way, there are more smokers in this country than people voting for labour - so look out Gordon Brown - you are on your way out i think !

Wrong i think its just an excuse to make us go private
After smokers it will be overweight people
Then in time it will be people who are involved in a car accident( After all it was the persons choice to have been in a car)
Before we know it we will be paying for everything and still paying Nat Insurance and taxes

I am a smoker,, yes i think it is wrong to be refused but it doesnt hurt us to try to cut down or even give up.. before surgery.. even if it is just for a few weeks to help prepare us for surgery .

I thought the whole point of the NHS was to treat all people for free at the point of delivery. If we start to discriminate on lifestyle choices will we not treat suicide attempt victims because they wanted to die? or rich people because they could afford private health care?
It appears that we are becoming more like the US in this respect...it will be a mess in 10 years time
