I'm in 'contemporary music' at my highschool, but we call it rockband.

It's pretty nice.
Jammin for two periods everyday with my band.

but the teacher wants us to try and touch on every genre or at least asmany as possible.

we are all mostly into heavy stuff.

are set list now consists of:

There are no penguins in Alaska- Chiodos
Ice Ice baby-Vanilla ice (a successful attempt to expand)
I Set my Friend's on Fire's cover of Crank that soulja boy(just for fun)
Liar in the glass- eyes set to kill
Finding home-Saosin
Grace Kelly- Mika(another attempt to expand)

We could happily just play heavy stuff and have fun writing our own songs, but since she's making us expand
i need some help thinking of songs with fun bass lines.

since metal only last far so long on bass anyways.

so I'm open to any ideas.
i hope that gave you some idea of what I'm into.

Even if a song doesn't have a good baseline and its just good.

Thanks for reading.

I want to say that all around a song with a good bassline that isn't too annoyingly out there would be

Social Distortion- Don't Drag me Down

goes with the song, it's probably a pretty easy song to play unless you're a singer or lead guitarist

Some more that will be kind of hard to find..

Deadline- Nothing Changes
The Code- 40 hour week
Citizen Fish- Panic In the Super Market
Citizen Fish- Disposable Dream
Operation Ivy- Healthy Body(Sick Mind)
AFI- The New Patron Saints And Angels

This is all punk or ska music, pick and choose I guess...
It's all got some great stuff to it

There are tons of great bass lines in many different genres.

You want to really expand? Here are some ideas, more or less random but all great bass lines:

Lady Madonna - The Beatles
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Pink Floyd - Money (in 5/4 time)
Good Times - Chic (also used in Rapper's Delight)
Bernadette - The Four Tops (or any bass line by James Jamerson, if you don't know who he was, look it up and listen)
Ramble On - Led Zeppelin
What is Hip? - Tower of Power (not so much a line, but more of a tour-de-force. check it out)

I can think of more, but I gotta get back to work...

peace

if you want heavy and good bass line go for mudvayne
otherwise if you want good bass check out primus. his style is awesome and if you learn his bass lines you can play any genre you want. primus is highly recommended for ANYONE learning bass.
flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers is good too. good music and good bass lines.
