Sidney Crosby would be, without a doubt, the player to build around.

I chose my lines, not just based on stats, but also from what I know about their style and playing ability and what I think would mesh well together.

Forward Lines:
LW-Ovechkin
C-Crosby
RW-Hossa

Offensive overload on this line here. Not much else you can say about this one.

LW-Heatley
C-Thornton
RW-Iginla

Gritty, hard playing goal scorers with Heatley and Iginla. Thornton provides his size and passing ability to compliment them well.

LW-Sakic
C-Modano
RW-St.Louis

Two greats with Sakic and Modano always looked great on a line together during All-Star games, add St.Louis to the mix and you can't go wrong.

LW-Brind'Amour
C-Datsyuk
RW-Lehtinen

Two men with Selke as their middle name provide a solid shutdown line. Throw in Datsyuk and you give them a big offensive edge.

Defense Pairs:
Lidstrom
Zubov

IMHO, the two best and most consistent d-men in the league. Skill, finese, and grit. The thought of this pairing makes me wet myself. XD

Pronger
Niedermayer

Not much drop off from the first pairing here. This is another pairing of finesse and grit with this one, no doubt chemistry would help as well since they played together in Anaheim.

Whitney
Souray

Two scoring defensemen, young and good with the puck. Helps add an offensive punch to any line.

Goaltending:
Brodeur
Turco

The two best puck moving goaltenders ever. Both are capable of pulling the workhorse loads and keep consistent efforts and steal games.Seeing these two play in a game together makes me wish Dallas got to play NJ more often than once every few years.

Brendan Shanahan. He and Crosby already get along well, maybe some of that would translate onto the ice! He'd be great for helping some of the Penguins youngsters grow their game too.

Crosby, duh.

Or did you mean to fill out an entire roster?

Line 1: Crosby, Ovechkin, Iginla
Line 2: Thornton, Heatley, Cheechoo
Line 4: Lecavalier, Zetterberg, St. Louis
Line 4: H. Sedin, D. Sedin, Alfredsson

Defense: Lidstrom, Pronger, Phaneuf, Boyle, Chara, Chelios

Goalies: Luongo, Brodeur

Dream on.

Forward - Toews
Defense - Phaneuf
Goal - Price

Nothing against Sid but if I'm starting off a new team I don't want a major cap hit on my roster for a few years. Although he does put butts in the seats.
