the story behind the song is this- War with Eric Burdon had just finished recording most of their first album and to celebrate, they had brought in many bottles of expensive wine and were drinking in the brand new recording studio were the album was recorded. One of the members of War knocked over several bottles of wine on to the new and expensive recording console and mixing board to which all began to clean up. Eric Burdon in the meantime had walked back into the recording studio and began to sing Spill the wine, dig that girl...and made the lyrics up on the spot. War though it was funny and as soon as the mess was cleaned up, went into the studio and began vamping behind Eric Burdon.

As far as songs that I don't understand , there are a few but one of the albums that I misunderstood the concept of for many years was The Moody Blues To Our Children's Children's Children which I though was always suppost to be symbolic of the Earth when in fact, I found out many years later, it was about space travel.

Spill The Wine used to confuse me, but I think I get it now. The song Land Of Confusion by Genesis confuses me, is it a song about politics, the horrible state of the world, or a friggin' love song?

"Lyin' Eyes" by The Eagles (edited version). In order to fit it to the then-standard three minute time limit for AM radio stations, a huge chunk of the song was taken out. The song is telling a story and then jumps to the end. Very confusing.

Most of Captain Beefheart's stuff, especially Trout Mask Replica. It's good but.. well, don't try it without the assistance of beer!

Bang Bang by nancy sinatra...
Is she dead or talking about child hood...
talking about being abused or missing an old flame...
very dark sounding but i dont think its meant to be...and with a beat dropped to it...pretty hot and a lift. but left in its orginal form....depressing...to the point you just want to jump.

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together--what the heck does that mean? The rest of the song is just as confusing
