Simply spend less then you make. (Easier said then done, I know...)

Keeping detailed track of what I make and where I spend my money is very helpful for me to manage my money. I keep all my receipts and have an excel sheet where I fill in all I have spent that week and then I evaluate what I can and can't afford for the next week, keeping in mind the end of the month expenses such as rent and smud.

Spending money wisely means saving it for things you need, and only splurging on things you'll actually use and when you can afford to.

I'm usually very careful with my money, but every so often I'll go out and buy some new books or clothes that I don't really need. I never spend more than I can afford, though.
