Maybe overheating. Unplug computer, open it up, and remove dust, but do not use a vacuum cleaner. "canned air" does best on the heat sink, block of metal with many fins.

Leave side off, plug everything in, power up and observe that fans turn. Keep fingers out of the box. Turn off and put side back on.

Let us know how it goes.

the most obvious question would be:

Is this a desktop or laptop???

Desktop-
Could be a number of things...I'll be honest..don't overthink the situation. Simply changing the keyboard could yield different results. If that doesn't change the situation, then go about diagnosing other pieces of hardware.

Laptop-
Not really much you can do except taking it into a local computer repair. If you don't use the keyboard, does it still freeze? If it doesn't...you have a bad keyboard...if it freezes all the time, then it is something else that has went wrong.

Working with computers is exactly like playing "detective" Once you get real good at it, you can pinpoint exactly what's wrong. One time, my keyboard kept me from booting into Windows. Computers are programmed to halt on all errors.

Best of Luck
