i need help with my geometry homework, and im stumped.
im staying up late trying to figure it out,
and i cannot get this one.
everyone at my house is asleep, so i cant ask for help.
can anyone help me?
give me the answer?
explain it to me?
show me how to do it so i can do it on my own?
whatever you want to do,
just as long as i can get the answer out of it.

Hint for this problem is not to worry about the parentheses since there is nothing outside of them and they are the only things on each side of the equation.
3x-3=4x-14
Now your approach is the same, combine all the like terms and solve for x
3x-3=4x-14
+3 to both sides
3x=4x-11
subtract 4x from both sides this time
-x=-11
drop the negatives (same as multiplying by -1) and you just have x=11
test it 3(11)-3 comes out to 33-3=30
4(11)-14 is 44-14=30
30=30

Solve the equation by substitution method
(3x - 3) = (4x - 14)
Let X= a whole number say = 5
Substitute value of x in the equation thus:
{3(5)-3) = {4(5)-14)
Solve the equation
(15-3) = (20-14)
12= 6
therefore this is not an equation
answers on both side should be equal
Try another method

Well, first, get rid of the brackets:
3x- 3 = 4x - 14
Now, move the 3x to the other side of the equation by subtracting 3x from both sides (keeps the equation equal). This will leave you with:
-3 = 4x - 3x - 14
Collect like terms:
-3 = x - 14
Move the -14 to the other side of the equation add adding 14 to both sides. This gives you:
-3 + 14 = x
Now, finish it off to get:
x = 11

x=11
first off, ignore the parenthesis. Now, as you should know with any algebra problem,, you want to isolate the variable, and whatever you do to one side you must do to the other
3x - 3 = 4x -14
subtract 3x from both sides
3x - 3x -3 = 4x - 3x -14
you get
-3 = x -14
now add 14 to both sides
-3 + 14 = x - 14 + 14
you get
11 = x

Put variables and constants together by transposing,
(3x-3) - 3x +14 = (4x-14) - 3x +14 will result to
-3 + 14 = x therefore
x = 11

Combine like terms
3x - 4x = -14 + 3
-x = -11
-x is the same as -1x, we just don't write the 1. But we need x not -x so.......
Divide x by -1 to obtain x
-x/-1 = -11/-1
x = 11
