No one I have my views you have your's but to use that excuse just to shut people up is kinda stupid because some libs don't serve kinda doesn't serve any purpose.

The libs made it up!!

I have never noticed anyone saying that on here. But since you brought it up, I do feel it is ones choice to serve in the military and fight in a war. I also think that if one does this, they should not be talked bad about by the ones that made the choice not too. And it always means, if your not there, never been there, never intend on being there, then how do you know, what it means to serve in the military. As for as telling some one to shut up or not talk about the war, we are all involved, one way or another, like it or not.

Well, I wasn't certain of the explanation to the question. As for who came up with that..no one. As far as I know anyone can talk about war. I never served and don't plan to but I have opinions and I feel they matter. I don't agree with a bunch of single minded polarized people sharing the same views because it is the in thing. I do agree with voicing your opinion. Yet I feel there should be some type of civility to it all. Listen more than you talk sometimes. I have found that this one thing has helped me become more educated on other views and allowed me time to think why I agree or disagree.

Usually, it is conservative hawks who happen to also be vets that say this. Which is not to say all vets.

The libs have our own version of this when it comes to abortion rights. Often on our side, some of my more stubborn liberal sistern and brethren as well have argued that men should have no say in the abortion debate.

Frankly, I think anyone can be educated on what is going on by listening to a variety of credible sources, and therefore can speak in general terms about such topics as the effectiveness of the surge (or lack thereof). And we are all free to discuss whether more scrutiny should have been present at Abu Ghraib. And the argument may have some validity when average Joes criticize soldiers at checkpoints reacting to an unresponsive driver with violence. After all, until we have walked a mile in their shoes...

But none of us has the right to speak for what our soldiers want and need but them - although their wants and needs as far as their opinion on whether or not to stay has no particular bearing - just because they are there. IMO, that clouds their opinions as much as it informs them. Besides, surveys of active military are only as honest as the UCMJ allows.

ADDING: That said, it is particularly gauling to hear pro-war Bush supporters talking about how we have to stay until the job is done when the one saying it has never been in the service himself. Moreso when they had the opportunity to fight themselves (either in this war or one from our nation's past) but instead got deferments or simply choose not to enlist their own services. To basically say that "we have to keep the troops in harms way so long as none of those troops is me" is the height of hypocricy.

If you are in the military, you serve your country. If you are employed in America by an American company keeping the economy running, you serve your country.

Anyways, both types serve their country, only in a different manner.

Edit:

I would like to add, whoever came up with that idea is facist.

Nobody said you could not have your own opinion.. But what is bothersome is when people who have never served in the military think that they can talk "for" our citizens in the military.

As long as your opinion is not... I know that military want XYZ,,, Then I do not see a problem.

to be a real Patriot You don't have to be in the military.Just do right by your family and community.
That has helped to make this country what is it.
As that is what made the people that have served this country.

usually I hear that any president who didn't serve on the Front lines shouldn't be sending our troops to war, Which would include FDR and Bill Clinton. the Liberals who made that up would like us to forget that.

If you are conservative you can't voice your opinion unless you served but if you are liberal you can voice your opinion and you don't need to have served. It's one of the most boring questions they ask!

no one. stupid question.

you can have an opinion about he war as long as you voted *where able* -I didn't vote but that's only because im not an american citizen.

i think you can't have an opinion about serving in ANY war if you haven't served.well sorta. because im a "lib" i suppose, seeing as I'm abhorantly against any war that isn't in self-defense. and even then I'm wondering why another country is fighting.

wars are just an oversized cat-fight between bickering siblings. and murder is supposed to be illegal.
