Why do pancreas cells have more ribosomes then another part of the body... I know that ribosomes synthesize proteins... Why are proteins important for the pancreas ? Is it because of the production of insulin ?

THanks

Ciao ;)

you are certainly right that ribosomes are required to produce proteins, so the pancreas must produce a lot of protein. i'm not sure if it's due to insulin production specifically or not, the pancreas is a gland that produces a variety of protein-derived hormones.

Pancreas acts as Endocrine and Exocrine gland and it secrets many of the endocrine and exocrine hormones like insulin glycogen pancreatic juice e.t.c. thats why it needs proteins in excess so nature has put excess of protein factories (ribosomes) in it

When you mention insulin, you should also mention glucagon because these two hormones are responsible for the control and regulation of the blood sugar level.
