Above is a link to "All" speed limits in all states. New Mexico has the most confusing speed limits of all states. Texas has raised there "Rural" Interstate to as much as 80 MPH.

After I found this link I think I'll print out the chart for referance.

Drive safe, watch those who feel 100 should be the limit.

The top speed limit, is different everywhere, and certainly state to state. Here in CA, on the uninhabited stretches of Interstate 5 the speed limit may be 70, and near cities it drops to 65.

However, you might be inquiring about the National Maximum Speed Law (in the United States) which is a provision of the 1974 Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act that capped all speed limits at 55 mph (90 km/h). This cap was intended to conserve gasoline in response to the 1973 oil crisis.

This law was modified in the late 1980s to allow 65 mph (100 km/h) limits. In 1995 it was repealed, returning the power of setting speed limits to the states.

No, there are about 32 states that have speed limits of 70 or greater.

An interesting note in history is the national speed limit law at 55 mph back in the 1970's. Attached is the link to that law and how speed limits have risen since then.

Before that, speed limit were 70 in most states and even 80 mph in states like Kansas where the roads are straight and flat.

Top LEGAL speed limit in New York is 65 but on any given day, on any MAJOR highway (I-90 east and west, I-87 north and south) you could probably expect to travel over 80 MPH on your way to work in the morning or on your way home at night---keep up with traffic and no problem---get behind a line or in the front and you MIGHT get nabbed.... ESpecially if it's at the end of the month and they have to fill those NON-EXISTENT QUOTAS

No. Trust me, there used to be Ohio State Troopers waiting at the state line. It's 70 mph in Michigan. 65 in Ohio.
