i have to say NO.
You need some expectations.
Rules... of society.... laws.... to protect the integrity of your lifestyle.

You cannot be too free.
You'll be truly disappointed in others.
There will always be someone out there whom will take advantage of you... and well.. if you don't have expectations or limits... you will be hurt or discouraged.

I think... expectations are also like GOALS.
No expectations, then you are not a person with GOALs...

i've lived with someone for 12 years.. with out goals... and i am truly disappointed in her. I found myself struggling to make things better and more tolerant and easier... and she... had no expectations and/or no goals which meant lack of effort... and lack of accomplishment.

all and all... my efforts were wasted... and i felt held back.

To be free from this scenario... is not only liberating...
but...rewarding to know there are people out there whom have 'reasonable' expectations, thus that they progressively get through their lives; making it better and happier. (unlike in my past relationship)

just my thoughts

Expectations mean hope.. "I expect that this will happen, and I hope that it really happens". Life without expectations will be ok, what life gives you you'll take it just like it is. However, life will be much nicer and interesting if we have expectations and hope about things we wish for, of course there will be disappointments, but this is how life goes. Pepper and salt!

no way. i tried keeping myself as stress free as possible. I didn't set any goals for a really long time and found that I was absolutely miserable. I felt like a waste of a human. Now I always have some type of goal to accomplish. Everytime I do something right, I feel better about myself and it keeps me happy. Feeling guilty kept me from slacking. I told myself I could either get out there and try and feel good afterwards, or not try at all and feel guilty afterwards. I picked get out there and try! Now I feel great about myself.
