The usual way -- telling people it's ridiculous to honor Christopher Columbus, considering that Amerigo Vespucci got here first.
Remember, Columbus was actually lost! So in essence, we're honoring a pretty lousy explorer/navigator.

I will sail around the world on the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria and discover a new land..... or I may just hang around the house all day.

I don't usually celebrate it. If anything, there's always a big parade in Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood, I might check that out.
