For some reason, my 2 GB flash drive has 38.5 MB of free space available, and there is nothing in it. On my Mac, I showed all hidden files, and the ".Trashes" folder is taking up 944 MB of space. When I try to delete .Trashes, I get his error message:

Sorry, the operation cannot be completed because an
unexpected error occured
(Error code - 122).

Please help! How can I delete the .Trashes folder and completely erase all the information on my Verbatim USB Flash Drive!!!

Go to Start, My Computer (or just open My Computer from the desktop if it is there). Plug the Flash drive into a USB port. You should notice a new drive pop up under My Computer eventually. Right click on that new drive and then click format. Then click Start. Click OK on the warning and you should be set.

Those files are hidden on your Windows machine. Go to view, and check show hidden files. You will see a .Trash folder, delete those. If that does not work, reformat. Just right click the device in XP and format. In Mac OS X, use the disk utility

You might be getting the error message because the some of the files are hidden. Unhide them & then drag all the folders to the trash bin or right click & delete.

Try this:

Go to My Computer
Right Click on the drive
Click "Format"

Choose the option to do a full format and completely erase drive.

The best way to do so is to use a PC to format it. Right click on the drive in My computer and select format. In the formatting windows, do not select quick format, so Windows can check for bad sectors and stuff.

the files are probably locked. hit apple+I and uncheck locked option and try deleting again
if that doesn't work, you will need to use the terminal to force it
