What could be wrong , the house has been sitting there with no occupents for three years .

You're getting what's called "nail pop" where the drywall nails are loosening up and popping through the drywall. Best to drive the nails in or remove them and renail or screw the drywall in those areas securely and patch the holes with spackle.

It happens when the house settles. I normally nail the pops back in the drywall so that the heads of the nails are a little below the surface. Then I cover the nail head with spackle, prime and repaint the spot.

Put a SMALL amount of GORILLA glue (buy it almost anywhere, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) on the shaft of the nail and push or tap them back in. The glue expands and the nails will NOT come out again. The glue takes about an hour to dry, so keep an eye on the nails and continue to push them back in if the expanding glue pushes them out until it's dry.

this happens when the house doesnt air out. having a house shut up constantly can make ceilings sag and plaster flake
