Our stupid garbage collectors always throw our trash can lids and small trash cans in their truck. We have to put the lid on when we take the can to the curb because alot of kids and pets are in our area and they might get into the trash if there were no lid. We have lost 2 lids (and since you can't just buy a lid we have to buy new can each time) and a small kitchen sized trash can this way. Any ideas on how to stop this? Why would the garbage collectors do this over and over? Does this happen to you? It drives me crazy!!

Tie a rope from the handle on the lid to a handle on the can... that way, when the imbeciles that can't/won't remove the lid, toss it into the truck, when they pull the can out, the lid stays with it, and if all the stars are aligned, it may also whack them in the head!!

Well , I think that you should tie a rope from the can to the lid for the big ones ; and stop using the little ones or maybe change to thick plastic bags , ( it seems they just work like mindless machines and don't care .)

Call the city and discuss it with them. We had a problem with them not picking up a trash bag that had a trash tag on it (Here you have to buy a trash tag to put on any bags you have over 2 bags). We called the city and they sort of fixed.

get one of those trash cans that have the lid attached you might be able to rent it from the trash company

use a bigger trash can that has the lid permantly fixed. It doesnt matter if its only half full of trash when they come.

It has never happened to me. Get a motion sensing camara at Acadamy and catch them or wait. They are doing this to hassle you.
