You have a Gold $20 Double Eagle. They were minted from 1908 to 1933. Your coin had am mintage of 528,500 and depending on condition the Krause online guide says in can go from $13,500 in VF condition to $950,000 in MS65. However these prices are likely high. I would search for your coin on ebay and see what similar coins have gone for in the closed auctions.

There are no one dollar 1921 gold coins, the last one was minted in 1898. The only gold coin minted in 1921 is a double eagle ($20) it had a very low mintage and is very rare. Most may have been melted in 1933. It is more likely you have a medal or token. Without a scan or photo's this is the best I can do.
