BAGHDAD - The number of American troops and Iraqi civilians killed in the war fell in September to levels not seen in more than a year. The U.S. military said the lower count was at least partly a result of new strategies and 30,000 additional U.S. forces deployed this year.

Although it is difficult to draw conclusions from a single month's tally, the figures could suggest U.S.-led forces are making headway against extremist factions and disrupting their ability to strike back.

bad guys = terrorist, Al Qaeda, and anyone trying to distrupt democracy in Iraq for their own political gain.

Well, the Iraqi civilian deaths are definitely going to go down when anyone killed by U.S. forces is automatically labelled a terrorist.

We are actually making a difference over there and if the liberals would only stop complaining for a minute they would see that. My husband is serving proudly in Iraq and I served there 2 years ago and we both have faith in this country. Liberals have lost sight of what patriotism is. Lord help us if Hillary wins.

Here's a clue to where to begin,
compare last September, the September
before, and the one before.
Little has changed.
Patreaus or no.

When I see 3 months back to back with NO,
that's Zero American casulties, I'll call THAT progress.

Until then, it's BullSh*t !

That's real comforting to know only 800 people were killed, And only 800 familiys were affected in the past month.
Yup, that's real good.
However until I know how that number was arrived at, I am not likely to be any less skeptical. Its just more propaganda from Bush's war until i know better. What are we measuring and how are we doing it?

Its a good statistic,I hope it stays good! then we can see who of the traitors,,running for president will twist it around and find another way to make our troops look bad,by bringing up some of their old treasonous propaganda like Abeu grahb,or Guantanamo.... : From the responses I can see That Public School is back in session, there's alot of submission out there.Lets all lie down, and submit like the lefties are teaching you too.after all its America's fault for all the evil over there!

There does seem to be some progress, but even FOX news is reporting that there is little hope of a political settlement.

This is a sign that we are indeed going to pull out!! Beware!! You may please some of our people with this but you may lose your soul for the cheap trade off. How will you encourage loyalty again when you leave the blood of your countrymen on foreign soil for naught?

apparently less people dying is a bad thing to some people. But yes i did know it was down. The reason is we are winning the war.
