Of course they are. One reason. Every time they get in trouble they bring in some bit actor to save the day. What people are going to realize is that most of the time Republicans hates Hollywood. They think Hollywood is evil. But this is the place they choose to pick their savior? They are going to trot out Thompson. He's from Hollywood. But republicans gonna try and say he's from down south.Just like saying Iraq was responsible for 9/11.They gonna end up running that singer. What's his name oh yeah mccain.

I believe the Republican party has already lost the up coming Presidential Election. I saw an interview of Newt Gingrich on Fox this last week-end, he predicted Hillary's chances over the Republican party candidate as 80%-20%.
If we look at prior history a semi-strong third party candidate helped Bill Clinton to win the presidential election of 1992. Clinton 43%, Bush 37.4, Perot 18.4%.
The Democratic Party would love to see a third party candidate supported by the reglious right.

I don't know if it is beyond salvation. I do know that I personally do not believe anything that most Republican politicians say. Chuck Hagel would be an exception.

I also personally do not believe that the Republican party is in touch or in step with working Americans.

When the Republicans controlled the House and the Senate, they constantly prattled about the "nuclear" option of eliminating the filibuster. Now that they are in a minority, they embrace and use the filibuster to stall the wishes of a majority of Americans.

It's too bad.

I think it's the fact that the GOP went too far right for votes. It worked for them the last two Presidential elections and the idea of getting back at the perpetratiors of 911, even the Dems supported that. Now they are just having a hard time getting back to center and still retain the hard liner right folks. It's just my opinion, though, wrought from watching the politics for Bush's terms as pres. He really made it hard on the GOP for some reason. Some keep rallying behind him still. Eventhough he's no longer in the running and is basically sharing his unpopularity with supporters, hoping to leave office with at least his shirt.

For the next Presidential election, yes it is. I heard today that if Giuliani is the Republican nominee, Dobson and some others from the "Religious Right" are going to form a third party and run their own Candidate. There's a third party for you to consider.

No, they will eventually get it lined out again, but Bush and Cheney have made it a good long while before they can get it straightened out. Not to mention the difficult work. The Evangelical Right is thinking third party because they think Guiliani is gonna' get the nomination and he is much too liberal for them. They just can't seem to separate church and state and that's the only way it will work in this country. I believe in God, but God and government must be kept separate.

And then we can start re-building The GOP in the image of the next generation and show the Old Timers just what we can do. First on our list: The Complete and Total Annihilation of The Democratic Party. Second: The Birth of The Empire.

The Republicans are smart enough to know if they back a 3rd party candidate Hillary will for sure win. That's how Bill beat Bush Sr. Ross Perot took the disgruntled vote away from Bush. The same thing will happen again.

They either need to rehab one of these candidates to make him viable or find someone they can all agree on.

Personally, I don't think they have a chance. They have no candidate who is strong on all the conservative issues. All the candidates have problems. It's not looking good at all for the Republicans. The only one that really meets the criteria, Huckabee is on some things liberal. So, it's gonna get interesting in the primaries to see who is going to get it. Guiliani is the only candidate that has a chance of beating Hillary.

The Republicans are nothing more than moderate democrats. I won't vote for a third party because that will only enable Hillary to win, which is the worst case scenario.
