I'm sorry, but people don't really think into the future about the poor names they give their kids. If she INSISTS on naming her child Patience, keep the spelling as is - Patience. I guarantee she WILL regret it later.
I had a child at 19 and thought I'd give my son a "different & unique name" now 9 years later my poor boy has to pay for it. If I could do it over I would. I gave my 2nd child ( now that I'm a bit more mature ) who is now a toddler a normal name and am so much happier with my decision.

RE:
Help with spelling the name Patience?
My cousin is naming her daughter Patience. She doesn't like that spelling and thought of spelling it Payschience, but we all think that's too long and it will take forever for the girl to spell it. So we're trying to come up with shorter, easier spellings for the name. It can start...

I've heard of the name Patience alot. It's nice but you have to spell it Patience. No other spelling is any good.

How about Faith or Hope? I've never heard of a name like Patience. It's not so bad, and I don't want to hurt your feelings, but maybe you can do better. How about Faith or Hope, or Rain (Raine), Autumn, Summer, Rose, etc.? But if you really want to stick with Patience, it's not so bad. She could get a nickname like Pat or Patty; just letting you know. Possible spellings: Paeshence, Paitiens, Peishense.... but I don't like Pae or Pai. I personally like Pay. Payshence? That's better. Paytience, Payshiense, Paytiens... anyway, good luck. And don't listen to all the mean people, because everybody likes different things and different names. Maybe the word "patience" has a lot of meaning to you, or it was the name of someone you loved, or maybe you just like it. So it's wrong for other people to make you feel so bad. It's not a bad name. Go for it.

Sorry, but WOW - poor kid! It's bad enough she's going to have the name Patience, but her mom wants to mangle the spelling to make her daughter's life even harder! Don't people who pick names like that think about how it's going to affect the child? There's a difference between unique and just plain ridiculous. So my vote is for none of the above.

Paichience. Paciance, Paycience, Pachence, pachience, Patience... You can do anything that sounds like patience. Differently spelled names are always the best.
