India is the world's largest democracy and is next door and could send troops in except that China - a state that has a horrendous human rights record and delights in killing its own citizens - is also next door. And the Chinese govt. like the Burmese govt. because they have so much in common.

The only people who can influence the criminals who are running Burma are the Chinese and they will do nothing. India and France have invested heavily in Burma so they will do nothing either. The USA have at least put sanctions on the Burmese Government members which is more than the 'hand wringing' EU has done to any effect.

China is the major player here, not the EU. Without pressure on them nothing is likely to change. India is a close trading partner too, but I very much doubt they'll get involved. One of the dilemmas that the Chinese face is that they're scared of a similar uprising in Tibet if they're shown to be taking too much of a heavy stance in terms of direct intervention. One thing that would make them take notice though, is to boycott the Olympic Games..Sad for sport yes, but it could be one of the few things that we could do. I really fear for the Burmese people. The military junta has crushed the uprising, and this story is already fading from the news headlines.

Burma is firmly in the sphere of influence of China. They want to buy natural resources and don't care about the 'human rights' of the citizens of the countries they deal with. Why should they when they don't care about the rights of their own people?
I wonder what the EU or even America could do there. Isn't military action just to bring about regime change illegal?

China can step in and help.
Their reputation regarding human rights could be applied in Burma. The Burmese would hardly notice the difference, bit China could gain even more territory.

"Can the world Do anything about Burma without the United States of America? "
Yes, I'm certain that the world population of 6 billion people can do something about Burma without the cooperation of some 400 million other people.

I hope that the UK & USA keep well away from this place.
Everytime the UK & USA do get involved they are called warmongers and should not have interfered.
But when they stand by and do nothing the world condemns them.
I sincerely hope that the UK & USA keep out.
Let the stupid cowardly French or Germans, Italians, Russians or Chinese have a go.
All these country`s are good at talking the talk, but can they walk the walk.............or are they just all talk, talk, talk!

Why not?
Decode this lyrics " I will follow him"
Getting themselves kick on the butts as casualty of the dead Mummy in not worshiping God.
Luke 9.60.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors created back in the past being expose in time in the new millenium after the mystery of us-911.
With all the creeps creeping out from the graveyards of failures and horrors of the past as the so-called glory of idol worshiping the dead Mummy from the graveyards of different ghostly ancestor's culture and custom created in own backyards without being aware of the mess of their own creation in climbing up the coconut trees and still look green.
Luke 6.39-40,41-45,46-49.

Never expected american intervention in Burma, as you have said, no oil, nothing of stategic value. The lesson learnt in Vietnam is still fresh I should think.
The U.N. ? its an embarrassment to send them there waiting for a meeting with the military leader. So the whole thing is left to China to resolve. Lets see what happens.
