Because Speech on line holds very little weight and is very difficult to manage I think we have it pretty good.
My space has done quite a bit of monitoring and censoring over the last year or two.
I think we should be talking about the monitoring and databasing going on rather than the censoring.

For the most part I think we monitor ourselves, If we see something w don't like; rather than confronting the person calmly we turn each other in.

A) freedom of speech is a USA thing mostly
B) it protects citizens from the GOVERNMENT taking action against them
C) this is Internet so those two things usually do not apply
D) these are privately owned servers, and technically you are talking about files on those servers which the courts say belongs to the people who own them

freedom of speech is guaranteed by the government,private companies have no obligation to give you free speech
