Does anyone else feel like it's not like or as good as other Yes songs?

It's Yes' most famous song... but it really doesn't compare to Close the the Edge or Roundabout... it was a easy single to market, that's why it's so famous but it's not really as good is it? Not really to the Yes tradition? Anyone?

I think it is a great song.

But it may sound less like Yes because it is Trevor Rabin, not Steve Howe, or because it was actually written for a band called Cinema, that only became Yes at a late stage:

or perhaps it is just too popular to be Yes !!

Yes has been around since 1968 and have done so much great music in their career.
"Owner of a lonely Heart" I think is a great song. After nearly 40 years your gonna do some songs that some people just aren't going to like.
We all have different tastes. Some of us like the song. Some of us don't.

I personally like:
"I've Seen All Good People"
"Your Move"
"All Good People"
and
"Leave It"
and
"Shoot High, Aim Low"

Beardo got it right. It isn't really Yes, it's a Trevor Rabin song. They recruited Jon Anderson at the last minute to sing and it became Yes. That whole album is not really Yes, they are Rabin songs. That's why I don't think it is as good as Yes music.

Yes had a reputation for being a band of virtuoso musicians. You can hear it on their earlier albums. However, "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" showed little or none of that virtuosity. It was pretty much a bland pop song.

It has shipped a shed load of units over the years, but I still say that a better representation of latterday Yes is the ABW&H album (and even that's nearly 20 years old now).

Even though I've heard it EVERYWHERE, I'm not quite into YES as you are. I'll have to look at this in the future...
