Has anyone's child been on this before and they had a hard time falling asleep? It took for 4 hours to put my son to bed tonight :(

You have my sympathy. I took it as an adult and it was bad enough!

Yes, unfortunately, it does cause problems with sleeping, even with some adults. It also will likely make him much hungrier. That's pretty hard to avoid.

Folks, prednisone is PRESCRIPTION! I'm sure her doctor is well aware of the problems associated with it. It is used for a lot more than arthritis. For instance, I took it to reduce bleeding in the retina to try to prevent blindness.

Unfortunately, that's one of the side effects of a steroid in younger kids is sleeplessness....goodness, I feel your pain, been there. Hope you can get some sleep. Can y ou talk to your doc about possibly giving some Benedryl to counteract the awakeness your child is going thrhough?? That might help, but ask your doc first before doing this. When my daughter was on a steroid once, she also didn't sleep well through the night, just forewarning you. Good luck. Hopefully this is just short term and you'll get some good sleep in a few days (take a nap during the day too if you can). :)
