Because our society preaches things contrary to that. Only the strong survive, be number one, all that jazz. We lack a great deal of empathy. It's a logarithmic scale. The further away a problem is from ourselves, the less we care about it. If you know anything about logarithms, if something is happening in another country and we don't see it, we don't give a crap. It takes a cataclysm in order to change our mind set. The Vietnamese have a saying, translated loosely, "If you haven't seen your coffin then you're still not afraid." We (the planet) as a whole need to see the coffin.

That was a propaganda myth about the population "explosion". Read more about that. In actuality, the world population has been declining too much for some time now. There are some reassurances emerging among world scientists that, maybe, the decline will be stabilized soon. I have seen some current evidence that it has. But, then, I read on occasion some very frightening concerns about dangers to the human lifespan related to telemere attacks by viruses, diseases such as chlamydia and anticipated new mutations and new species of bacteria and viruses that will emerge due to climate warming, and about increased solar activity and anticipated radiation damages that will occur to a large percentage of female's eggs, and I become concerned again. If you truly care about humanity, become truly informed and join some of the scientific battles that will save our species from the current problems ahead for us related to declining fertility and birth rates. We must all join together to face the real problems that challenge us. Many already have. Seek them out.

I don't know, it would be nice to see, but what I see is if someone has the resources, they expect to keep them. They do not share. They also feel they are entitled to more and then point out that those who don't have the resources are weaker for some human failing.
