I'm currently 10w 1d pregnant. I've been having my hCG levels monitored weekly as my last 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage. At 8 weeks they were 64,400. At 9 weeks they had dropped to 53,100. My doctor sent me in for an ultrasound to check on the baby. My baby was fine. Had a heartrate of 170 bpm and measured 9w 2d in size which was spot on. I just got my results through from yesterday at my level has dropped again to 41,700. I'm seeing my doctor this afternoon but I'm really worried that I'm gonna lose this baby as well. My doctor told me last week that your levels can start to go down in your 3rd month as the placenta is taking over but I thought it would either stay the same or not go down as much again. Has anyone been through this situation and had a positive outcome?

If anyone knows what their levels were when they dropped please include that in your response. Thanks very much.

Just to let you all know everything is fine. I went to see my GP today and all is well. We could even hear the heartbeat with the doppler. Thanks for all your responses.

THis has never happened to me but I have a friend that this happened to as well. She had a miscarriage and then got preg again. Then her hormone levels started going down around two and half months. But everything was fine. So maybe everything will be fine with your baby too.

I would just remain calm. Your levels will go down as the placenta takes over most functions. So long as you're not showing signs of miscarriage, and youre doctor is not concerned just go on as usual.

Just be pregnant. There no reason your body should be allowed to fail your baby. That sounds insane, but it certainly sounds better than assuming your body would fail before succeeding, and going around acting as such.

Your levels do start to decrease. It is a very good sign that you saw the heartbeat and everything. I have been through many miscarriages, well 3, and I have three children. Try to stay relaxed for the baby. It really does seem that everything will be okay for you. It is great that your levels kept going up. Good signs!

I had a similar pregnancy loss, but I never heard a heartbeat. When the heartbeat is heard, the miscarrage rate really drops. Try to stay calm until you see the doc. I would discuss with the doctor the possiblity of a progesterone deficiency - this can be the cause of repeat miscarrages in what appear to completely healthy pregnancies. This can be treated with simple progesterone shots... Things sound OK right now - stay positive until you have reason not to - Good luck, please update!
