I went last year, with one of my friends. But it was this middle school program. All they did when we got there was tell us to meet up with them in a certain place every 3 hours, to make sure everything was ok. Other than that, we were on our own.
Now my friends and I want to go in a group of 8-10 people. I'm a freshman now. But my mom is really hesitant. She says she would let me go with my brother (who is really shy and quiet and pathetic), but doesn't listen to me when I tell her that two of the guys going with us are his height. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? Group of ten, two guys that are like 5'11? Am I the only one who thinks she's overreacting? How can I convince her to let me go?

I posted it already but I think it may have been in the wrong section, so I deleted it. >_<

Haha. Height doesn't really matter except that they're tall so they'll keep big weird guys away. :D

Height has little to do with it. It's the age coupled with maturity (responsibility) that matters. Is there an adult in your family that can come along to act as an escort, but that you know would be fun to bring along so that your mom feels that you are safe? Do you have a cool uncle, etc. someone your mom trusts and that you feel comfortable with that you can have come along? If not, then just bring your brother. Your brother may seem pathetic to you, but don't underestimate him if something happens. Shy and quiet people are often pretty observant people and can spot trouble early. Family is always good to have by your side. You'll probably be having too much fun anyway to be worried about him. Maybe ask him to bring a friend so he has someone to share the experience with too. Also, promise your mom you won't wander anywhere alone. This probably wouldn't happen logistically anyway, but ease her worries and let her know your group has a buddy system. If someone needs to go to the bathroom, get food or whatever, then two or more people will go together, etc. Maybe offer to call your mom also to let her know you guys are having fun and you are okay. Doing these things will help build your trust with her, and she's likely to trust you with other outings in the future.

Knott's is great. Tell your mom you'll bring her home some jams or jelly. Maybe chicken pot pie. Whatever bribe works. They have great fudge too. When I was reading the heights of people in your question I thought of the signs "You must be this tall to ride on this attraction." Anyway, Knotts is pretty safe. You are old enough to go on your own if someone in your group is old enough to drive. Tell mom to lighten up. Kitty said so.

I went to Knotts Berry on my vacation and I thought it was pretty fun. You should ask her why she doesn't want to let you. Has she ever been to the park? She may be overprotective or she may be wary of theme parks but I think she is just trying to protect you.

Why does it matter how tall the guy is? lol. anyway, yes she should let you go. it's not that big of a deal. Plus your not 11 years old anymore. Your going to an amusement park, not Iraq.

Maybe she's hoping your "pathetic" brother can go along....have you thought of inviting him just to be nice?
You're his sister, right?
