10-6(9-4)^2 =
10 - 6*5^2 =
10 - 6*25 =
10 - 150 =
-140
what you did was do the subtraction (10-6) before you multiplied the 6 by (9-4)^2. You need to do multiplication first.

You aren't following the rules.
Your second line should be 10-6*5^2, which would then become 10-6*25, etc, which is much different from 100.

10-6(9-4)^2
10-6(5)^2
10-6(25) [Order of operations: you have to multiply 6 times 5^2 before you can subtract]
10-150= -140

10-6(9-4)to the 2nd
10-6(5)to the 2nd
10-6(25)
10-150
-140

10 minus 6 times 5 to the second power.
first simplify: (9-4) to second power=25
now: 10 minus 6 times 25
10-150=**MINUS 140** is the CORRECT ANSWER
the correct order is: raise simplified number to power, THEN multiplication and division, THEN addition or subtraction.
