It's October and I need to watch some horror movies on DVD from Netflix. I'm looking for ones that are no more than 2 years old. What can you recommend? I've already seen The Ring. Please recommend a few. I like Science Fiction as well, so horror movies in that genre are fine as well. Thanks!

Wow! You have GREAT ideas for horror movies! My Mom (in her 70s) and I are the only horror movie folk in our extended family and we kick my dad into their bedroom to watch football and sit back and watch horror movies! Between us, we own about 20 DVDs of various older horror movies (and yes The Thing is my personal favorite followed by Aliens). Keep the ideas coming!
As far as Netflix, I have the 2-at-a-time right now. I use the 3-at-a-time from Jan. through March when it's too cold to do much outside.

Well, we seem to find different things scary considering I hated Sweeney Todd, Resident Evil, and Van Helsing. However I did enjoy Red eye and the Final Destination series. I also did enjoy the Saw series. But if you want some scary recommendations that I have yet to see fail, try: 1. The Strangers 2. Quarantine 3. Case 39 4. The Last Exorcism 5. The Exorcist 6. The Shining 7. Halloween 8. The Crazies 9. 30 Days Of Night 10. And I found Paranormal Activity 2 to be MUCH better than the first. So did my boyfriend, who hated the first one. So maybe at least give that one a shot? Hope this helps! If you want reviews on any of these, just look them up under IMDB. It will even give you a parental guide so you can read about some of the scares and see if they seem up your alley or not!

I recommend the 3 Saw movies for sure, and then the 4th one will be coming out at the end of October
The movie High Tension was a good one too...
OMG I almost forgot! You HAVE to see Dead Silence. It was made by the same people who made saw, this movie had me seriously scared, and when it comes to movies im not easily scared cause I'm old enough to know its just a movie. @_@ but seriously, Dead Silence just...freaked me out.

Why do they have to be newer? You can check out http://www.horrordvds.com and the reviews at http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com for some good and or bad flicks to check out. Speaking of bad movies you can check here http://www.badmovies.org I could list tons more but these should get you started.
Limiting yourself to newer horror films is not good since you may be missing out on some fantastic films that are older.
