The "connection" (kind of hard to describe; if it's there, you know it. I think it is case here, if you know what I mean.)

Intimacy,and I don't mean physical,,just the sense of having at least one friend who really and truly understands me. I've had the same best friend since HS - 20 years now - and I consider myself blessed in that regard. He's really been a tremendous support time and again and even as far as my marriage is concerned I really don't think it would have lasted without him running interference for us during the early years. In fact,I don't know that I would have ever gotten married without his confidence-building support. I don't think I would've had the guts to go through with it.

That it is given sincerely. That it'd be reciprocal. that it does not hold on to grudges.
That it is trustworthy - open - accessible - has humour and seriousness, both.
That it is not fair-weather oriented.
That it'd be open and allowing of errors before easily put down.
Comfortable feeling. Enduring. generous, respectful, REAL!
