Dance with her holding her upright against you- it will allow her to relax and it will keep her from swallowing more air. Next, turn on music and dance. Or, run water and play music until she settles. It's common for newborns to do this. our daughter did this for an hour each night until she was about 10 weeks old. Not colic- just fussy and I breastfed her when she settled down a bit.
Good luck- you sound like you need a break. See if you can get an extra set of hands there to help.
Take good care and relax, she feels your tension. I know it's hard.
Congrats to you!

RE:
My newborn won't stop crying?
She started up crying about a hour ago. She is not hungry or wet and won't go down to sleep. What should I do? I am a new mother she is only 5 days old and I don't know what to do for her. I hopped on my computer to relax a bit but she is still going. Moms...what do I do to calm and what...

My 5 week old baby does that sometimes. I've learned that she just wants to sit up straight. I think she gets gas and that's the only way it helps her release it. You may need to give her some mylicon drops. They will help so much. My baby pretty much calms down right after I give them to her. If that doesn't help she may just want to be close to you. I have to hold my baby on my chest with her head over my heart so she can hear my heartbeat. I also pat her back. I hope this helps.

Try anything and everything..
Swaddle and offer a pacifier, rock fast and SHHH in her ear..
Offer Mylicon drops to pass all those gas bubbles from an hour of crying.
Go for a ride in stroller, or car.
give a warm bath
sit in a pitch black closet and do the 1st thing i said ( this will work so great if she's overstimulated)
Read alot of baby books. Grab advice from each but don't follow them all exactly, you wil have your own parenting style, but a little info is always great..

Sometimes babies just cry. Make sure she isn't hungry, if you are nursing she could want to nurse and nurse on demand. If that isn't it try burping her really good maybe she has a bubble. Swaddle her up and get comfy in the rocking chair because it might be a very long night, but all part of being a mommy! Good luck

I have no advice. I just spent the evening with a seemingly inconsolable two-week-old. We were in the living room and maybe she just didn't like it. I spent the evening crying myself, which didn't help the situation, questioning my worth as a mother, praying and thinking unkind thoughts towards my husband who gets to come and go as he pleases, and went to a favorite bar/grill to hang out with some friends. (And he gets more sleep than I do and still sleeps in. Doesn't even seem to wake up at times when the baby is crying.) Finally, I came back upstairs to the bedroom where we have spent the majority of the past eleven days. I nursed her again and she is now sleeping in her crib. My MIL bought her a portable crib, despite the one that was already set up in the living room that I got from my sister for free. When she offered, I tried to tell her several times that it wasn't necessary, but apparently she didn't get it. She thought the one we already had sat too low to the ground, preventing air flow. (Yet, they supposedly never have any money. I digress.) I also just wonder if she didn't like the new bed as well. I tried setting her in a portable bassinet the other day and she didn't seem to like that either.
Anyway, I'm just venting.
Oh, try changing the temperature. I went upstairs and turned on the fans in the bedroom and it's much cooler. That might have contributed, too.
To everybody else, thanks for the advice. For now, I'm just going to get some sleep while I can.

Could be gas, or colic. But I will tell you that they will go through spells of crying for "no apparent reason". Sometimes, one just has to deal.
What I would do is pick the baby up. If this is comforting to her, then hold her. You can't "spoil" a baby before 3 months of age, so you don't have to worry about that. Hold her, rock her, talk to her, sing to her, whatever seems to work.
Good luck!!

i know it is hard having an unsettled baby... just like mine one... i was stress out ... i even lost temper 3 times during the first 9 month ... cos he is crying for everything, not onlywhen he is hungry tired or bored.... (he cried when put in pram, swing, jumperoo, car seat, change table, when bathing , eating, just everything)
but now i regret it so much the times when i lost temper and ignored him when he was crying ...
now i know him better ... well, if she is not hungry , she is dry and comfort, not tired.... maybe she is lonely, she wants cuddle? .... hold him, cuddle him, give some more milk, just try to give some more, in case she wants it ... my newborn wanted to be fed every 15 minutes ...
if that still not working ... try to calm still ... that's important, don't do what i've done ... that will be times when you regret it so much .... , listen to her... and take her to see doctor... if a baby keeps crying when u've done everything, that may be she is sick .....

I would have to go with what some of them. It could just be gas the best thing for that is to lay her down on her back and gently push her leg up and hold them for a few seconds. and if that is the case you might want to look into gas drops and if you breast feed with out a bottle you might want to buy a small bottle and put water in it along with the gas drop.
Good Luck and I hope this helps you.
