My son left a red permanent marker down and my 4 year old daughter drew some very beautiful pictures all over my wooden hope chest and wooden nightstand. Does anyone know how I can get this off?

Try using a Mr. Clean Magic eraser. My daughter uses a sharpie on the dining room table all of the tiome and this takes it off. Make sure it is the on that says ink on it.

Probably what ever type of finish is on the wood would help to determine what will work or not. If there is the same kind of finish on the bottom you might consider using a tiny area as a test site...to see what might take the marker off (without destroying the finish). I would try different things on a Q-tip (on the bottom).

Call a 1-800- number for the company that made the marker.

Also, See what cleaning solutions you can find at Lowes/Home depot....esp. in the paint section.

At worst you might have to refinish the the wood. Homer Formby makes a refinishing solution that would probably take the marker off...and minimally disturb the finish...then you could renew the finish...(you have to determine what the finish is first tho....lacquer? urethane? (water-based) Polycrylic? Take a drawer (from the stand) to a re-finishing place.

That is my BEST ANSWER! Good Luck! "Happy Parenting" :-)
