I am looking at the pros and cons of my short list of baby names... Victoria is very beautiful, but many of you have pointed out that Vickie is not the prettiest nickname... I also dislike Tori...

Can you think of anything else?

I don't think Vickie or Vicky sounds harsh at all. I think it sounds feminine and pretty. Same goes for Tori.

I love the name Victoria too, but fear people would call her Vicky, so I don't plan to use the name. I personally like Tori though. You could just call her Victoria. Not every name needs a nickname.

My sister and I both go by our first initials... mine is "B" and hers is "V" for Valentina. It's pretty and softer than both Vicky and Tori.

Other possibilities:

Rory (Which I LOVE)
Tia
Via
Oria

And of course, Victoria is beautiful w/o a nickname. But beware, my sister's 1st grade teacher started calling her Tina (something my mom and I hate) before we started calling her V... and it stuck with her and some of her friends for a while. So, if you don't give a nickname, Vicky or Tori may happen anyway. But you'll find something perfect-- I have no doubts! Good luck! =)

Victoria is a beautiful name. I have a friend named that but she goes by Vicky. To me it does not sound harsh at all. I also love Tori. Other options are Toria? Or Ree or Ria? Maybe she would prefer her full name anyway.

How about Via?

It's a supremely unusual nickname for a classic name. IMHO, it is prettier than Vicky or Tori.

There is meaning attached to Via - way, through. Grand Via is a major thoroughfare in Madrid. But I'm not sure those are negatives. And since the world is full of Mias, I imagine that everyone will know how to pronounce her name.

Doesnt matter what you like or dont, or what you hope sticks, she WILL inevitably end up being called Vicky or Tori by everyone if she is named Victoria.

There are no soft sounds in the name Victoria. The only other name i can think of out of that name, is Cori!

Good luck!
