Just be in tune to your body's unique signs. Most women see "fertile" cervical mucus around the time of ovulation, which is stretchy and clear and has the consistency of egg-white.
Other signs of ovulation could be mild cramping and increased desire.
To verfiy that you DID ovulate, you will notice your cervical mucus drying up, and getting sticky. Also, your basal body temperature will shift upwards and stay elevated until your next period.

When you are approaching ovulation, you will start to release cervical mucus. When your cervical mucus becomes thin and stretchy, and like egg-whites, then you are very very close to ovulating, or are currently ovulating. When your cervical mucus begins drying up, you can be fairly certain that ovulation has already happened.

Unless you used an ovulation predictor kit, or unless you are skilled in basal temperature charting and examine your cervical mucous over the course of several months so you know your pattern, or unless you're one of those women who notices the subtle twinge/cramp of the follicle rupturing out the egg, chances are you will not know when you ovulate. Most women do not know.
