my computer want shut down?

I have an w2040emachine that runs and performs like champ but now when I go to shut it down windows logs off and my screen goes black like it should ,but it's like it's hibernating and i didn't set it for that I only turn it off at nite ,but I have to unplug it from the wall . pls help with this matter.

ps. I hold the button down and it still don't go off .

Here is how to manualy shut it off. Put your finger on the power button for a few seconds. The computer will shut down. But you will need to keep checking the hard drive for damage because it is hard on the drive to be shut down like this.
