The cool thing about the metric system is it works very simply. centi is one hundredth, milli is one thousanth. Millimeter is one thousandth of a meter, meaning there are 1000 millimeters in one meter. Centimeter is one hundredth of a meter or there are one hundred centimeters in a meter.
