what does "trade quotas" mean?

its just since its not in my book of marketing(i'm in that class) then i wanted to ask here because i'm 100% there are smart people here but can you please give me the definition and an example or a short way to memorize what the word means i really would appreaciate it if you did....THANK YOU!!!

Its a limit on how much goods a foreign country can bring to USA. Reason for trade quotas is to protect jobs in USA.
