I am doing my science fair project on plant growth with different colors of sun light. I am putting transparency film over the leaves and seeing which grows best.

I did this same experiment, except using different colored bulbs instead of films. I took cutting off a Coleus plant and propagated them in potting soil without any growth hormone or much care. Having the word 'cloned' in your title will certainly make the grade, it was sort of like doing two separate projects.

I'd go look at the Philodendrons as they are very forgiving houseplants. There is something similar called an Epipremnum aureus.....boy, check my spelling, it has been years since I've had to type that name. It is something called pothos or variegated philodendron...which it isn't. Anyway, the leaves are flat enough but have white or yellow streaks. Maybe an alternative experiment might be done on them to see if light waves affect the lighter colors in the leaf. Anyway, back to the question:
Geraniums would work, OK, but they aren't that flat and the plants aren't that forgiving in the house. You need to walk around a greenhouse that has houseplants and ask questions to the sales people.
Another thought was growing your own plants, beans would be easy, but would you have the time? Just regular dry beans can be soaked overnight, then planted in paper cups, don't forget the drainage holes in the bottom. You might try a few, but don't base your whole experiment on light waves when you can't guarantee you'll have bean plants to experiment upon.

Marigolds or Pansies are very easy to grow so are african
violets. The Violets do very well with a lot of light and keep
soil moist, water about every 4 days, and get some miracle
grow for violets, or you can also use it on the other plants.

Lettuce. It sprouts quickly (within 2 wks), grows well in pots, has lots of leaf area so color changes are very visible, even brown thumbs can grow it, and when you are done, you can eat it.
