I think Yes Minister is a cut above for sheer content. The laughs were non-stop and ingenious.
Ronnie Barker was the greatest comic actor. Nobody can touch him in my opinion.

As an English person, may I give an opinion of US & GB?
British: Blackadder (if that counts as a sitcom - but cleverest, funniest show ever.) Fawlty Towers (of course)
American: Friends, Frasier. Cheers (in it's day.)
Lots of others, I'm sure, just need some reminders, then we'll all go "Oh yeh. I forgot about that" or " Oh how about....."

I don't think anyone said the two funniest shows I've ever seen--SOAP (Campbells vs. Tates--Billy Crystal and the guy that played Burt Campbell are great) and The Carol Burnett Show--watching Tim Conway keep a straight face while Harvey Korman is cracking up--that's funny...thank God they are on in re-runs and on DVD...when I have had a bad day, they always make my day better!!
