The thought comes to mind whether there is a difference between a good citizen and a legal citizen, and who you ask.
The way our government is now, a good citizen as far as our nation would be one who works to try to get their representatives to stop voting for pork barrel projects, works to get those politicians who are not good for the country as a whole out of office - yes, like george bush who has the lowest approval rate of citizens since the nation began - and who either obeys the laws our nation has enacted or work to get those laws changed.
A good citizen registers for and votes, even if it often is for the lesser of two evils rather than a outstanding candidate.
A good citizen does not say simply that he is democratic or republican but states what he like or dislikes about a politician regardless of their party affiliations.
A good citizen makes his own mind up about issues based upon what is right and does not endorse issues based upon race, political affiliation, nationality, or even issues regarding money.
This would be my description of a good citizen but too many simply say that a good citizen is simply one that obeys the laws of his city, state, and nation. To those people, I would simply say, what if those laws are wrong?
