How about moving to a new state? Because for an American, compared to a European, moving from, say, Montana to New York is like moving across three or four countries.

Move to a new country. You can always make new friends in the new country, so staying behind for friends is not a good reason. You can always go back to family if the relationship fails or ends. But if it is "true" love, you will only find it once and you shouldn't pass up that opportunity.

I can answer this my husband joined the air force right after our daughter was born. His first station was in Italy. I didn't give it a second thought I was living with my mom and dad while he was in basic and tech school so it was a hard move from Va to Italy and it had it rough moments and times personally we became stronger because we were newly wed still with a baby and when we argued and disagreed we only had each other to work it out no outside influences like parents to put in their advice on what/who is right or wrong.
The 3yrs we spent in Italy (we lived in a town called vechiannio lived in a apartment building with old Italians whom none spoke any english and my Italian was very choppy) was 3 of the most amazing years in my life and at times it was lonely, but overall amazing and its what made us as strong as we are today.

Move! See the world, or at least a few different parts of it. There is mail and phone for your family and friends. Go do something interesting. If everything totally sucks then go back to your friends and family. New stuff is interesting, live a little.

It depends on the country. I wouldn't move to Iraq or Iran or many other countries. I would only move to a place I want to live, where I can enjoy the culture. If he loved me then he can always come move to my country.

I'd pick friends and family. Because love can come and go, but you will always need family to help you through the ups and downs.
