When I was 13 our house caught on fire around 2 or 3 in the morning. Being burned awake was my alarm clock. Just imagine for a second flames shooting up the walls, the light above you exploding and then a wall falling apart. It was then I went to get my 2 brothers and 1 sister awake and out before the entire place collapsed. I couldn't wake my sister up so getting her through the broken window wasn't easy but what choice did I have. After getting them out I tried to go back for the dog but the roof gave way when I was only 10feet from the front door. As it turns out that house had a faulty fuse box which was ruled the cause. Mom and dad went out and I was in charge, as they finally pulled up and seen what was happening my legs gave way 2 days later I woke up in a hospital bed minus one toe. My first question was Is everyone alright? The doctor told me that my sister almost died due to the smoke, my brothers were lucky to have gotten out when they did because the fuse box was in their room. After that every night before I went to bed I checked just about everything and jumped at the slightest noise for a month. That was one week I will never forget.

I doubt if there is anyone here that has escaped from a major fire and is alive to relate their experience but I will be interested to read their experiences. My personal advice would be to put a wet blanket over your head if you can get one. Keep as low down to the floor as possible and try to find an exit door, move as fast as you can and pray that you will get out alive.

I was in a fire when I was a kid, our Christmas tree caught fire because the lights were left on.

The experience is very frightening, traumatizing, and FAST. I remember my mom grabbing me out of bed by my pajamas and dropping us out a window to a neighbor who was waiting below.

To this day, I still have nightmares about it, and I can't bear to be around a "live" christmas tree.

It loks orange like an orange crayon and is hot like the summer day.
