The 2001 World Series is the only time championship play yet has carried into November.

Let's review:

Game 4, 31-October -- Jeter homered in the bottom of the tenth to win the game, shortly after midnight. So, technically, this was a November home run.

Game 5, 01-November -- Finley and Barajas go yard for Arizona, Brosius for New York. This is the first game to start in November.

Game 6, 03-November -- despite Arizona piling on 15 runs, everyone stays in the house.

Game 7, 04-November -- Soriano scores the last Yankee run of the year with a solo shot in the 8th. Arizona makes dramatic comeback in bottom of the ninth, wins game, championship. Yankees lose World Series for record 12th time (since extended to 13).

Jeter hit one in Nov. 2001 in the World Series against Arizona. Probably some Diamondbacks hit them in the blowout in game 6.

The World Series is usually over well before November, but that year it was delayed because of the 9/11 attacks.

It had to be in the 2001 world series, because no game has ever been SCEDULED in November except a possible game 7 in the world series this year. In 2001, the date got pushed back because of the 911 attacks.
