He was a half witted ego driven man who wanted power and found it by finding commies under every bed. He was also a total tool, in the modern usage as well as the normal usage as in controlled by others.

He pretty much copied what Palmer did in the 1920's. not only was he an idiot but he ruined many people's lives. probably because people feared communism always and although we were allies with russia in ww2 afterwards people became skeptical and nervous. they knew how a small minority of people could dominate over many like the bolshevik revolution. also, bc of the whole "iron curtain" deal- people have no idea about what was going on with USSR's satellite nations and why they were controlling eastern europe.
