I'm just curious. My manager lives in the same apartment as I. I recently started working for her since last week of July. This is my first job (I'm 17). About three to four weeks ago, apparently, she revealed my application to several of our neighbors. Without getting into the details, basically, a terrible rumor spread about both my mother and myself.

The first day I started working for her she straight out told me, "I DO NOT like liars and you know, I don't associate with people at the apartment because they all gossip" ... and two minutes later she's judging the woman who's wearing a dress she thinks is ugly.

What makes this worse is that my mom talked to her. She wanted to know if she did it. She said, "No, I would never do such a thing" but having asked all the people here, they all say she did in fact show them my personal info.

Now, she keeps telling me, trying to defend herself, "I didn't do it. I would never do that" blahblahblah.

The employee before me quit and emailed the head of the company complaining that the manager was getting too into her personal business. (That's have the job was open for me)

Can she get fired? I'm just wondering.

I don't want her to get fired. I'm just curious as to why she keeps trying to defend herself with me ... like she's scared or something.

From day one, I've kept it at a professional level. I didn't share anything with her. She's the one that showed my stuff to people. She told me not to bring my personal business to work ... I guess bringing other's personal business from work is okay?

I'm pissed about that. She says she hates liars and here she is, lying to everyone.

Oh, and by the way, my mom was the first to find out (from ALL the people here). I think I was the last to know! She decided to talk to her. I told her not to but I can't control her...

I think she most certainly can!!! First of all, she violated the Privacy act by showing your resume all over the department. By saying that she does not like liars, she pre- judged you and to me, she sounds like a vindictive , holier-than- thou, rude, b***h. Just my opinion, hun. Go to the department head, and tell him/her, what is going on. SHe has violated alot or rules, and she should be stopped. It makes me think that the woman has done this before, hence, the e-mail, and she may do so again, and will not stop til she has been put in her place. She tries to cover her a$$ and defend herself, and she will not stop bothering/ harassing you till she is stopped. Sounds to me she is the office bully! Good luck!

If she is giving out your personal information, of course she can get fired! Did you put your social security number on that application? Your address? Your name? Phone number? Please seek out her superiors. She is not allowed to show your personal information to other people.
Don't back down simply because you are young. She might be in a higher position than you but that doesn't give her the right to throw around your personal information.

Keep your relationship with her on a strictly professional level. Don't get into idle talk about your home life or apartment building and don't let her trap you into any of that chat.

And don't let your family fight your battles for you... keep it strictly business.

just because she can get fired doesnt mean she will be fired. shes a manager, your young, and she is possibly more valuable to the company, who knows, she could be sleeping with the boss...anyways, I'd quit if I were you. you dont need that bull ****.

People can get fired for any reason, as long as it is not discriminatory. Depends on the employer.
