Start by keeping your quads streacheted,... do that my using the opposite hand to the opposite foot,.. don't pull up to tight, push your plevis forward to get the pull. Osgood Sholoters (?)(spell??) to correct that is very important. You need a Shophat strap. You can get it at a sports medical store, or maybe a good sports shop. It's worn just below the knee cap, on the tendon. If you have a bump forming already just below the knee it's time to get that strap on, and keep your quads loose

Unfortunately there is no effective cure for Osgood Schlatter's disease; it resolves with time. This is most frustrating for athletes. Someone will invariably mention a steroid injection into the tibial tuberosity. While this may reduce pain and swelling, it increases the risk that the tendon will pull off of the bone. That's bad.
