The Bible, of course!

Are we saying that I am the only one who can own one book, that I am the only person in the world with a book, or that everyone can only own one book?

Well, my first choice of a book would be my Bible. However, if my family was also only getting one book, then I'd make certain that at least one of us had a Bible, then I'd probably choose one of those books with all the "how to fix a broken bone" or whatever, or perhaps one of those "how to build a fire, etc." books.

Ouch !
Seriously nasty thought, that one.
Errrrr Lord of the rings
or an omnibus of everything Robert Jordan has written
or All Stephen King's books rolled into one

or one that listed every web site where I could read whatever I wanted online ( but I suppose that may be called cheating....)

Hard to answer. Lord of the Rings is my first thought but then I love everything Stephen King has written. I am also tempted by the first book I ever read that gave me a lifetime love of books: Carbonel by Barbara Sleigh.
Thanks, now my brain hurts!!!!

Well, I'm IN LOVE with the Harry Potter series, but there are 7!!! So I guess I'll say the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.
