I agree with Harold... however some of the other choices tend to deal with what was the most important thing that ever happened to Americans. Some countries are not affected by 9-11; therefore it wouldn't be important to them. Note to all the Americans: An important event in history would probably be something that affected everyone, not just a select group of people. (Don't take offense... I have nothing against Americans... I live here too!!)

It has to be the beginning of the universe, because there are too many good events (and bad events), and infinitely many important events. But they all began at this one important event. I would say before the big bang... before there was life... and even further back.

Honestly the volcanic explosion in Italy and the unearthing of the city of Pompeii. I have been there andit is the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I thinks it is the most important thing that ever happened because it preserved humanity in the molten ash and enabled us to learn about the Romans during that time.

To modify it to the most important thing in Human History, would say farming, since it allowed towns to begin, and people began forming civilizations. Fire was good, it helped greatly and so did the wheel, but cultivation led to everything we take for granted today.

a) birth of Christ- b/c of the creation of multiple religions and the effects of the crusades and the impact on modern society... and the Savior of the world... duh.
b) the Greek and Persian war- b/c if Greece lost we would not have democracy... no one would
c) the invention of computers- b/c of all the things it has opened up for us, space travel, medicine, ect. ... not to mention I would not be answering your question right now

The Universe came into existence.

Why is that the most important thing in history? Because everything else stems from this event.

Songbyrd11 is correct. The concept of farming is the foundation of the creation of communities. With communities came the time to develop the resources which would lead to specialty functions and the formal accumulation of knowledge.

With community growth and the accumulation of resources, the beginning of trade would develop and with trade would come the transfer of knowledge between diverse groups.

Without farming and the ensuing communities our times would not exist.

The most important thing to have happened in History is always one's birth.

My birth is the most important thing that happened to me - yours to you, etc.

What comes second will be forever up to interpretation.

i think the most important thing in history was the fact that during the battle of the wilderness in 1763,george washington was leading a small troop of men into batttle, while he was commanding his troops,a bullet went right through his jacket,if he would ahve been shot and killed,we would have ever known who he was,or what he did,man i love lousy shots.
