Aluminum is not a mineral because it is an element. True, carbon is an element that is a mineral in the form of graphite and diamond, but aluminum is not found in the elemental state in nature. The best answer is that it's not a mineral, which is like saying it's not because it's not, and doesn't give a reason.

Didn't you read the chapter on aluminum? It was right there on page 3 plain as day. It's simple and I'm sure you can find it by scanning through the chapter.
